Temporality in the Urban Fabric

The challenge

The aim is to find a way of implementing temporality in the urban fabric. The role of temporality in different urban scales can be applied in the sustainability of the living environment; This will empower the character of the hybrid city. Temporality can be associated with a spot or a space which offers a maximum flexibility in temporary usage. This spot or space needs to be created, because of the increasing costs and those who forced to stick on a rigid space. The need is way more than before for those who wants to live, work, and move in an efficient way. to live, work, and move in an efficient way. Flexibility is the key which should be literally applied in different phases of the process.

keywords: temporary, permanent, freedom, movable, feasible, adaptable, flexible, re- use(cycle), sustainable, self-sustaining, plug-in, unoccupied (leegstand), urban typology

The solution

The technique, which will be applied, must trigger the idea of makeability and movability; This concerns anyone who has the need to move up in any case. The idea is to plug-in a particular urban context where possible. People such as freelancers, an entrepreneurs who run a pop-up, researchers, festival holders, camps, specific type of facility depend on the need, who have the desire to make use of this idea, can plug-in in part of the city.

@johannesvanmelle thank you for the response. I did also some research about claiming the intellectual property, unfortunately it is quite complex. I'm looking forward to discuss about it tomorrow during the speeddate session: )

I am not sure which concrete solutions are provided. Concrete solutions for construction elements allowing for flexibility could be patentable.

Thanks for the comments @erwindejong @franksteeghs. You can find the answers in the personal golden egg check and the first try for the business model canvas. If you have any additional questions, please let me know.

I agree with frank's comment. Next to that, i am interested in how you propose the funding of these places. Could you share your thoughts on that?

It's good to think about more efficient use of space. But since it's about personal work and living, i guess it's also important to make it some how a personal environment (like coming home after work). How are you going to solve that?
