Motion sickness buddy

De uitdaging

This concept has the potential to make all forms of travel much easier for people that are predisposed to motion sickness and its after effects. People may no longer have to dread taking a journey in a car on a twisty road without visions of throwing up already clouding their minds. It can have the added benefit of people being able to work while travelling without feeling sick, thus improving productivity.

Currently the only solutions on offer for travel based motion sickness is medicinal in its nature. These medicines have their own side effects in that they either make the user sleep or drowsy after its intake. This has negative effects on the user's productivity during and in some cases after a journey is completed.

De oplossing

My solution is based on the theoretical understanding of motion sickness mechanisms and their relation to the functioning of the autonomic nervous system. The idea is to apply vibrations at specific points of the body to influence autonomic nervous system responses. This would involve wearing wearable wrist bands or a sleeve over the forearm with inbuilt vibration motors. This system does not require the user's active involvement, Just switching on the system before the commencement of the journey is whats required.

Nice idea, motion sickness can be a day spoiler on vacation! Please look for existing literature (prior art) e. g. Via www. Espacenet. Com or via google patents. We may then assess patentability.

Can the wearable equipment be integrated with the interior design of a moving vehicle? Example, placing the arm on an armrest of an aeroplane to receive the vibrations?

Where are the points on the body that you want to stimulate? Should i think of some small devices i should put on the body or some kind of wired suit? Can you elaborate on this?
